## Summary

Notion's October 19 release rebuilt its agents so a single task can run more than 24 hours, up from five minutes, and added an Auto model router and a new credit system.

## Key takeaways

- Since October 19, 2026, a single Notion agent task can run more than 24 hours, up from about five minutes, per Notion.
- It is a rebuild of the agent harness: each session runs on its own service with a queue-backed worker loop, so restarts do not lose the work.
- Auto is a model router. Notion's own numbers say it matched Opus 5.5 and Astra at about 90 percent lower average cost; treat that as a claim to test.
- Business and Enterprise seats get 1,500 Standard credits and 500 Select credits a month; existing customers move over on November 2.
- Try it with Auto on, one long checkable job and Review for me turned on, and watch credits: the AI Command Center spending limits are still coming soon.

## FAQ

**Can Notion agents really run for 24 hours?**

Notion says a single task can now run more than 24 hours. Treat it as a promise until you test it with one job you can verify.

**What is Notion Auto?**

A model router that picks a model for each task and switches if one gets stuck. Using it draws on Standard credits; picking a model yourself uses Select credits.

**How do credits work?**

Business and Enterprise seats get 1,500 Standard and 500 Select credits a month. Existing customers move to the new system on November 2.

**What are the gotchas?**

Team Custom Agents use Select credits by default, the AI Command Center is still coming soon, and the ChatGPT connection works only in your personal agent.

## Transcript

### Intro

Liam: Hey hey hey, welcome to Agentic Pod! I'm Liam.

Stella: And I'm Stella! Liam, Notion agents used to stop after five minutes. Is it really twenty-four hours now?

Liam: That's what Notion says. Since October nineteenth, a single agent task can run more than twenty-four hours. Today: what changed, how to try it, and what to watch.

Stella: A whole day of work I don't have to watch. Or a whole day of mistakes.

Liam: Both are possible. Let's go.

### What Notion actually changed

Stella: Okay, why can it suddenly run all day?

Liam: It's a rebuild, the sixth generation of Notion's agent harness. The harness is the machinery around the model. Each session now runs on its own service, with a queue-backed worker loop.

Stella: In plain English?

Liam: If something restarts or hiccups, the work carries on. It doesn't start over.

Stella: What else is new?

Liam: The agent gets its own computer and browser. It can write short scripts instead of burning model tokens on every step. Notion says that's faster, cheaper and better quality.

Stella: And long chats don't fall apart?

Liam: They compact long conversations and push big tool results out of the way, so the context window doesn't fill up. Notion also says agents run up to fifty percent faster on web and mobile.

Stella: Okay. And what's this Auto thing?

### Auto, and what it costs

Liam: Auto is a model router. It reads your task and picks the model that balances quality, speed and cost. Simple requests go to fast models. Analysis and multi-step runs go to stronger ones.

Stella: And if the model gets stuck?

Liam: Auto switches to a different one.

Stella: Does that actually save money?

Liam: Here's the claim. Across twenty-plus common tasks, Notion says Auto matched Opus 5.5 and Astra at about ninety percent lower average cost.

Stella: That sounds suspiciously good.

Liam: Those are Notion's own internal numbers, not independent tests. Treat it as a claim to try, not a fact. Custom Agent runs also cost about thirty percent less, in Notion's testing.

Stella: So how do credits work now?

Liam: Business and Enterprise seats get fifteen hundred Standard credits a month. That's the pool Auto uses. Plus five hundred Select credits, for picking your own model or running Custom Agents.

Stella: And if I'm already a customer?

Liam: New customers are on it today. Existing customers move over on November second. So how do you try this?

### How to try it today

Liam: Notion doesn't publish click-by-click steps yet, so here's what I'd do. Open Notion Agent and leave the model on Auto. Picking a model uses Select credits.

Stella: Easy. Then what?

Liam: Give it one long, boring job you can check. Something like, go through my projects database, find every task overdue by a week, and draft a status page grouped by owner.

Stella: A real job, with an answer I can verify.

Liam: Right. Turn on Review for me. A separate model checks whether an action is safe before the agent takes it.

Stella: A bouncer for my agent.

Liam: A bouncer, yeah. Then check the result before you trust it. Okay, now the fine print.

### Gotchas, and the verdict

Stella: What are the gotchas?

Liam: Team Custom Agents use Select credits by default, even when other people run them. Admins can fund them with Notion credits instead. And the AI Command Center, with spending limits and per-agent usage, is still coming soon.

Stella: So no guardrails on spend yet.

Liam: Not yet. The ChatGPT connection works only in your personal agent. Plus, Pro or Go plans, not Custom Agents. And bring your own key is alpha, Enterprise only.

Stella: What about other plans?

Liam: Notion's post doesn't say what credits other plans get, or which plans have Review for me. Check your own workspace.

Stella: Honest verdict, then. Who's this for?

Liam: Teams already living in Notion with long, repetitive jobs. Reports, cleanups, status pages. If you're not in Notion, nothing here changes your week.

Stella: And the twenty-four hours?

Liam: A promise on a page until you test it. Start with one job, watch your credits, and read the result. The links are in the description. What would you hand an agent for a full day? Tell us in the comments. See you next time!
